Michael K. Photography 2012 Promo Video

Here is my promo video for Michael K. Photography. This gives a good visual to exactly what I do and why I do it. It’s a culmination of footage over the past few years of me photographing and filming weddings. Shot with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 60D, Canon 7D, Gopro HD Hero 2, Canon XA10, and Canon XF100 and edited with Final Cut Pro X. I hope you like it!

New Blog Coming Soon!

I am currently working on launching my new blog. It’s time to say good bye to my old WordPress blog. The new one is much more customizable and I should have it up and running in the next few weeks. I plan on posting some video blogs so you don’t get too bored with reading my latest ramblings. Also, I will have some different content (not just weddings!). I’m a BIG photo/video gearhead, so maybe I’ll post some gear reviews as well. Stop back again to check it out.

Eglin Air Show 2010 – 75th Anniversary

So I figured today would be a good day for this blog post, in honor of Memorial Day. About a month ago, I had the privilege of attending the Eglin Air Show on April 11th. This was my first ever air show, so I figured I’d bring a camera and tripod along, and I’m really glad I did. I decided to take the Canon 7D because it can shoot at 8 frames per second, very fast for a DSLR. I was quite happy with the results, very sharp. I shot about 1,600 images, most of which are fast action shots of the fighter jets. The camera kept up with no problem at all, it sounded like a little machine gun! I’m a huge techno-geek so I LOVE stuff like this!

The highlight of the day was the United States Air Force’s Thunderbirds. They were amazing! I can’t believe how skilled those pilots are. They pushed the limits big time. You’ll see in some of the photos how close they actually fly to each other. Unbelievable. Anyways, here is a few of the highlights of the day.

Love this shot! Top Gun anybody????

See, I told you they fly super close!

It looked like they were going to collide right here…

No, this is not a photoshop trick! They actually flew perfectly inverted! Those pilots might have the coolest job in the world.

It’s a plane, no, it’s a helicopter. No, it’s the V-22 Osprey. Sweet.

How cool is that?

Oh yeah, I found this video on YouTube that somebody filmed that day of the F-22 Raptor. That is the craziest fighter jet ever! This thing just about defies the laws of physics. Watch this video to see what it can do. It’s ridiculous!

It’s Been a While

Hey everyone! Sorry to leave you without a new blog post for over a month! I thought that May was a busy month for weddings…boy was I wrong! September and October have been nonstop. I will be doing a new post later on this week and I will keep them comin’ for a while. I have tons of pictures to post from the past couple of months…not to mention I have a New Orleans trip coming up soon. Super excited about it this trip. I am going there for the Pictage Partner Conference…and I have never been there before! I can’t wait! It will definitely be something different. Be sure to check back later this week for the new post!!!

Quick Video of Boat Week at AJ’s

I took this video from my iphone. I know, I know, I don’t exactly have the steadiest hands in the world! By the way, I’m loving this new video feature for my blog, much more to come.

A little something DIffeReNt….

So, year after year I miss this event every summer. Emerald Coast Boat Week in Destin. Not this year!!! I even had friends visiting, but I made sure I got a chance to sneak away for ONE hour (that’s right, one whole entire hour!) to get a few shots of some amazing “BIG Boy Toys”. Like I said, I did’t have much time, but just enough time to capture some pretty cool stuff that you don’t get to see every day. So I thought I’d share it with everyone.

I love how colorful these boats are, very wild looking and they really demand your attention. Even the trucks and trailors that pull these boats are amazing. There was even a Ferrari boat, ridiculous, but I wish I had one!

Anyways, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to blog about something other than my usual weddings and beach portrait sessions. You gotta keep it fresh, right? Take a look!

Digital Graffiti 2009

A few weeks ago, on June 6th, some friends and I went to the 2nd annual Digital Graffiti Festival at Alys Beach. It was amazing! I didn’t get a chance to make it last year and I’m so glad I got to go this year. I can’t say that I’ve experienced anything like it before. There were digital artists from all over the world, as well as local artisits displaying their work…it was so incredibly inspiring! Take a look at some of the pics.
